Marraige Equality Suffers Setback in Spanish Senate
Today the Spanish Senate rejected a bill that would grant marriage equality in Spain, making it legal for gays and lesbians to marry. Spanish Prime Minister Zapatero, who is in favor of marriage equality, has promised to send the bill back to the Congress for an override provision, allowing the bill to pass without Senate approval. The Congress previously passed the marriage equality bill in April.
Spain will be the third European country to adopt marriage equality, after Holland and Belgium. Canada is facing setbacks in its push for marraige equality as well.
